The Pure Grape Juice Seal / Certification of Purity and Quality is issued by the Brazilian Association of Pure Grape Juice Makers, ensuring that the juice is:
– Free from any food preservative or antioxidant
– Free from water addition
– Free from sugar addition
That means that the grape juice that bears the seal does not have any ingredient other than the original raw material: grapes. This difference is important because there are other grape juices available on the market that do not necessarily cater to the requirements of the pure grape juice.
The process of data collection about the brands, the physical collection of products from the points of sale, lab analyses, reports with results and the decision about certification is operated by Totum Institute, an independent certification body (www.institutototum.com.br). This way, there is credibility about the entire process, since there is no interference from the juice companies or from the association in any of the technical phases of the certification process.
The brands that bear the Pure Grape Juice Seal are periodically collected from the points of sale, such as supermarkets, and undergo rigorous analyses, being tested for all of the standards defined by the technical protocol/regulation. All of the companies that produce grape juice also have to compy with legislation requirements, and offer evidence of that compliance every year.
HEALTH BENEFITS OF PURE GRAPE JUICE
Studies have shown that the red and white grape juices can have the same health benefits as wine, because they contain strong antioxidants known as polyphenols to which the good effects of wine (to the heart and overall body) are attributed.
